February 1st, 2022, Test and Go is Live here in Thailand. You can book to arrive in Thailand and travel after 1 night in a SHA+ or AQ hotel. Conditions do apply – please see the infographic and also the details below.

SHA – Safety and Health Administration – SHA hotels are hotels that meet pandemic level standards. SHA + hotels are stricter and include the following at least 70% of hotel staff are vaccinated and no un-vaccinated staff are allowed to have contact with the guests.

AQ – Alternative Quarantine hotels are set up to have floors that are quarantine ready (they can be isolated with isolated lifts etc.).

Vaccination Requirements

  1. Above 18 years of age travelers must be fully vaccinated (at least 2 shots) of a WHO approved vaccine.
  2. If the traveler has had COVID – they must have at least 1 vaccine after recovery. They mus provide a Medical Certificate showing proof of recovery.
  3. Below 18 years of age – full vaccination is not required, but they must travel with an adult.
  4. Between 12 and 17 years old may travel alone if they have received at least one dose of a WHO approved vaccine.

Insurance Requirements

  1. Travelers who are under Thailand’s national healthcare system – do not require extra insurance.
  2. All other persons must have a travel insurance policy with a minimum value of $50,000.00 USD and the policy must stipulate that all expenses related to COVID-19 are covered. (including but not limited to : Note Insurance reduced to $20,000 as of March 1st 2022, onward.

Hotel Bookings

All travelers under the Test and Go program must have a fully approved SHA + of AQ hotel confirmed and booked for day1 and day 5, unless leaving Thailand on or before day 5. If the traveler is leaving on or before day 5 then a second SHA + / AQ hotel booking is not required.

  • Day 1 reservation includes hotel plus RT-PCR test and airport transfer
  • Day 5 reservation includes hotel plus RT-PCR test – replaced by self administered ATK test as of March 1st 2022.
  • You may book a different hotel for Day 5 from your Day 1 hotel, however you must wait at the hotel for the test result before leaving

Note: the second RT-PCR test on day 5 is not required by the Thai government if you leave Thailand on or before Day 5. However travelers should make certain to leave and that their airline does not require the RT-PCR test.

For travelers arriving at Phuket the RT-PCR test must be booked separately at www.thailandpass.com

For travelers arriving at Bangkok/Samui airports the RT-PCR tests will be booked with your Test and Go hotels.

Travel to Thailand using Test and Go

Apply for a Thailand Pass

To enter Thailand under the Test and Go program all travelers must apply under the Thailand Pass website. Click Button below. (https://tp.consular.go.th)

To apply you must have the following:

  • Passport
  • Vaccination certificate or your recovery certificate
  • Insurance (minimum 50,000USD for medical including COVID-19
  • Insurance is only $20,000 minimum after March 1st, 2022.
  • Confirmation of Hotel bookings for Day 1 and Day 5 if applicable
  • Flight reservation (domestic transfer within Thailand is acceptable to Samui or Phuket with a flight reservation)
  • Visa for Thailand if required

Recommend you apply for the Thailand pass at least 7 days before you plan to travel to Thailand.

Note: – If you already applied for a Test and Go before and were approved – you do not need to re-apply. Please scan your QR code to determine when you may enter Thailand.

Get a COVID-19 RT-PCR Test

All travelers must have a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test that has been completed within 72 hours of arriving in Thailand. (Some airlines require the test be done 72 hours before your flight – check with your airline to be sure).

If the result is positive you must have a medical certificate stating you are fully recovered 14 to 90 days before your planned travel date.

Children under 6 years old do not need a pre-arrival RT-PCR test providing they are traveling with their parents.

Have a RT-PCR test on your arrival day

You must have an RT-PCR test on arrival (either at the airport, your hotel or another place that you have arranged) and wait for the result in your designated SHA+ / AQ hotel – all adults and childern must take the test.

Negative result – you are free to travel anywhere in Thailand.

Positive result – you will be referred for medical treatment in an appropriate facility according to Thailand’s Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 (2015). Your medical expenses must be covered by your required insurance policy.

Do another RT-PCR test on Day 5 – scrapped as of March 1st 2022

The second RT-PCR test is replaced by a self-administered ATK test as of March 1st, 2022.

All travelers must do another RT-PCR test on Day 5 and wait for the result. You must have booked and paid for the hotel and the test before arriving.

Negative result – you are free to travel anywhere in Thailand – have fun.

Positive result – you will be referred for medical treatment in an appropriate facility according to Thailand’s Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 (2015). Your medical expenses must be covered by your required insurance policy.
